Proposals for strengthening the culture of peace in latin american prison contexts

The culture of peace requires constant actions to strengthen it. In the case of prison contexts, it is necessary to consider the various roles that participate in it. In this way, the diverse needs that haunt the environment in prison situations are emphasized. Only in this way can the opportunity to provide an institutional balance be considered, based on the promotion of human values such as respect, tolerance, inclusion, justice, and conflict resolution. The objective of this study was to carry out a theoretical approach to the proposed actions around Latin American prison contexts. The methodology was a theoretical review, with the purpose of addressing in a general way a range of opportunities that contribute to social development from a humanistic perspective. Emphasis is placed on strengthening the Human Rights of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PPL) from the process of social reintegration, aimed at resolving conflicts and suppressing violence between PPL, families, prison staff, and society. Therefore, it is concluded that strengthening the culture of peace in prison contexts in each Latin American country helps each PPL prioritize individual aspects, and, in this way, creates an opportunity for social reintegration.
