In the last decade, we have experienced a profound social, cultural, economic, educational, and political transformation, marked by the development and implementation of technologies such as social media and artificial intelligence. These technologies have shaped new ways of relating to one another and new perspectives on understanding the world.
Current societies, and especially younger generations, spend excessive time in front of the screens of their mobile phones, tablets, or personal computers, affecting not only physical aspects such as eyesight, poor posture, injuries, and sedentary lifestyles, but also mental ones, increasing anxiety disorders, depression, lack of concentration, and the development of new addictions. Social consequences include isolation and a lack of social skills.
This is concerning because these factors contribute to social deterioration, polarization, misinformation, and post-truth, threatening the development of peaceful, participatory, and inclusive societies with strong communication, resilience, and empathy skills.
